Winter Tips

Being prepared is the key to getting through the tough New England winters. Check out these additional basic winter tips:

  • Be safe! If you have to shovel - take frequent breaks. Bring a bottle of drinking water outside with you. Even if the snow is light and fluffy, it is important to stay hydrated.

  • Be a good neighbor! Check-in on your elderly or shut-in neighbors to be sure they have all they need to weather the storm.

  • Gas up! Fill your car's tank and the portable plastic tank for the snowblower when bad weather is predicted.

  • Stay home! If the weather is inclement and you do not have to go out - don't. Most errands can wait until the plows have had  time to clear the roads.

  • Enjoy! Sure, snow removal is a hassle but post-storm snow often creates picturesque scenery. If it is safe to do so, grab your camera and capture the beauty while it lasts. Often, you need not travel any further than your own back yard!
